How to Make Buttermilk Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter, plus more for greasing the pan

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined.
  4. Stir in the melted butter.
  5. Heat a lightly greased griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Tips:

  • For fluffier pancakes, let the batter rest for 10 minutes before cooking.
  • Add 1/4 cup of fruit or chocolate chips to the batter for a sweet treat.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk.
